The Good, the Bad, and the Bugly: Pest Management in the Garden

May 14, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Learn how to distinguish among different kinds of insect damage, the major types of plant pathogens, and how to reduce weed pressure.

While many of our favorite ornamental and edible plants have been bred to be attractive to humans, often insects, fungi, and bacteria find them irresistible too! By taking a holistic approach focused on plant health, proper problem identification, and a developing clear management strategy, you can come up with a plan to protect garden friends while keeping foes at bay.

Join Ashley Troth (Extension Agriculture Agent) and the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Durham County and learn how to develop a holistic, integrated approach to pest management. Participants will learn how to distinguish among different kinds of insect damage, the major types of plant pathogens, and how to reduce weed pressure. Organic management strategies will be emphasized.

This class is part of the Bull City Gardener Learning Series, a program of Durham County Cooperative Extension, and is open to everyone.
