Virtual Developer Month – Week Two Session
September 9, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

RIoT is crafting our popular Developer Day event into a virtual month-long event series! Join us every Wednesday, 9am-1pm EST, during the month of September for FREE half day interactive workshops.
This week’s session focuses on IoT Machine Learning. Join to hear from:
9:00-9:30am – CODE THE DREAM, presented by GOOGLE FIBER:
Code the Dream’s win-win model of giving experience while giving back has resulted in some incredible projects. Join us for an interactive conversation with CTD’s senior staff and board, and get a sneak peek at some of the recent innovative apps for social impact created by CTD developers addressing COVID-related food insecurity, clinical trials and more. Also hear exclusive behind-the-scenes backstories on the creative process behind our projects, and how partners like Google Fiber help CTD grow an experienced team of diverse developers. Don’t miss this chance to meet the CTD community! Featuring Daisy Magnus-Aritey, Andrea Hernandez Guzman, Crystal Williams-Brown, and Lori Fernald Khamala.
9:30-10:30am – SAS:
Machine learning provides powerful techniques including computer vision, device monitoring, vibration analysis, and many others to predict when machines will break or for object detection for improving business outcomes. Join SAS team members Steve Sparano, Principal Product Manager for IoT, and Tom Tuning, IoT Solution Architect to learn how some of these techniques can be applied on the edge or in the cloud using streaming analytics from Python and open source so you can improve the bottom line.
10:30-11:30am – Klarrio:
IoT affords exciting opportunities to capture and process data with very low latencies—especially useful for use cases where adaptation and immediacy are required, e.g., health monitoring; industrial equipment monitoring and control; cyber-threat detection; or highly personalized intelligent home automation. Conventional batch-oriented machine learning remains useful in streaming, but emerging incremental techniques address use cases where the batch approach is insufficient. Join Ted Morris of Klarrio US to talk about these new streaming use cases, and learn foundation concepts for planning and implementing incremental learning solutions. Background in basic streaming data concepts and in Python highly recommended, although not required.
11:30am-12:30pm – More information coming soon!
12:30-1:00pm – Networking:
